Grace Bible Church Doctrinal Statement

We believe the sixty-six books of the Bible contain the Word of God written without error, by holy men of God, who did not exercise their private interpretation; but wrote through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 3:15-16; 2 Peter 1:20-21).

Today, no personal experiences or imaginations of the mind of man should be used to determine the truth of God. We believe that the Bible is the single and final authority concerning Spiritual understanding (2 Corinthians 10:5; 1 Corinthians 2:14; Colossians 2:8).  It must be the Word of God that is exalted: “…for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name” (Psalms 138:2b).

We believe that Jesus of Nazareth is fully God and fully man. He is glorified and seated at the right hand of the Father. By necessity, He was born of a virgin, making Him the only human qualified to voluntarily lay down His life. For all other men are required to die due to “the wages of sin” (Romans 3:23, 6:23).

We affirm that eternal life comes by first believing God’s definition of a sinner, and that we are filled with total unrighteousness at conception (Psalm 51:5; Matthew 5:20-22, 27-28; Romans 3:10, 5:18). Only by affirming that we are God’s definition of a sinner can we believe in Christ’s faithfulness alone. There is no merit in works on our part (Ephesians 2:8-9). We believe that “Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).  We believe that we are justified by the faith of Jesus Christ and that we must believe and trust in His faith (Galatians 2:16). “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified” (Galatians 2:16).

We believe that eternal life is based upon a physical resurrection for all believers of all time (John 11:25).  We believe that this resurrection will be the manifestation of the Body of Christ, and that we will then be born of the Seed of Christ Himself, members of His flesh and bones, but never raised again from the seed of Adam. Christ is our “first-fruits” of resurrection (Romans 8:19, 8:23; Ephesians 5:30; 1 Corinthians 15:20-23).

We believe the Holy Spirit is God (Acts 5:3-4), and that He indwells, seals, and marks the believer at the moment of true faith, being the “earnest of our inheritance” for a future resurrection (Ephesians 1:13-14).  We also believe the Holy Spirit empowers the believer to bring forth “fruits of righteousness” pleasing unto God in this earthly life (Ephesians 3:20; 2 Timothy 1:7; Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:22-23).  We believe the sign gifts and supernatural events of the early Church were for the purpose of a witness that Jesus was and is indeed the Christ, and that these sign gifts have been “done away” with the fulfillment of the Word of God (1 Corinthians 13:8-10).
